Physical Description: 

The Dalmatian is a muscular, large sized dog with a height ranging from 19 - 24 inches, and a weight ranging from 45 - 65 pounds. Its head is pear-shaped and bears a brown, blue, or dark gray nose. Its eyes are amber, dark brown, or blue and its soft ears are tapered. Dalmatian tails are long, tapered, and slightly curved. The short coat is white with black or brown spots. Spots can be black, brindled, brown, dark blue, lemon, or sable, or tri colored. White spots are not acceptable.

Best Owner and Environment: 

The best owner for this type of dog is one who is experienced with dogs and who lives in a rural or suburban area.

Physical Description: 

The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog is a deep-chested, muscular, large sized dog with a height ranging from 23 ½ - 28 1/2 inches, and a weight ranging from 85 - 140 pounds. The entire body is a little longer than its height. Its large head is wide and flat, and it bears a muzzle that’s as long as the head. Its nose is black, its eyes are hazel or chestnut, and its medium-sized ears are v-shaped. Greater Swiss Mountain Dog tails are long. The double coat has a thick undercoat and a 2 inch outer coat that’s black with white, rust. The eyes, cheeks, and chest sides may bear symmetrical rust markings. The chest, muzzle blaze, and tail tip is white. Teeth must meet in a scissors bite.

The best owner for this type of dog is one who has experience with dogs and who lives in a rural or suburban area.
